Questions & Answers
Can you please explain the deposit procedure?
This is addressed in detail in the contract, but to simply answer this question:
There is a $250 cleaning deposit required on all contracts at the time the contract is signed. A 50% rental deposit is required up front to hold any specific date, and the balance is due a minimum of 45 days prior to the scheduled event date.
How many wedding sites do you have?
There are 4 sites if you count the indoor facility. One has a stage for the ceremony; one has a Gazebo for the ceremony; one is at the base of a 16 foot cross, for the ceremony. The pavilion building is available for weddings too, but for the most part, we expect you’ll want to use this for the reception, or in case of weather changes. Since we only book one event at a time, you have your choice of locations for your ceremony.
What months of the year do you schedule events?
We schedule events 12 months out of the year, but like most other event venues, we are busiest when the weather is nice. Our pavilion is heated and insulated, and seats up to 200, auditorium style, and that is what gives us the year round access.
How do you handle weather changes?
We do get snow during the winter, but not normally enough to be an issue. If you choose to schedule an event during the winter, and the property becomes inaccessible due to road conditions or lots of snow, we will fully refund your deposit and any monies you have given us in payment for your event. Other than winter, if the weather changes unexpectedly, we expect you should be able to move the event indoors, for part or all of it.
What days of the week do you schedule events?
Weddings we schedule only on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. The only exception is for weddings of less than 25 people, subject to prior agreement. All other types of events we can accommodate just about any day of the week.
Do you have connections with caterers, florists, decorators, photographers?
Yes we do, however you are more than welcome to use you own, subject to them meeting our insurance requirements. For a list of ones we have connections with, see the links on our home page.
What about parking?
We have room for about 100 cars, and we have attendants to help direct traffic for each event, based on the size of the expected group. There is only one driveway in and out, so having attendants is a must.
Is there any size limitation to the groups you rent to?
Yes; 250 including all adults and all children. We only have room for 100 cars, so to accommodate 250 people, you will probably have to encourage people to carpool.
Do you have a schedule of event pricing?
Pricing varies between the type of event and the dates of the event, and it is subject to change until the deposit is received. A basic schedule is included under each event section of this website. Cost of doing business, as well as the process of Supply and Demand, regulate the charges we make for each event.
What are your insurance requirements?
This is addressed in detail in the contract, but to simply answer this question: Liability insurance is required of all renters in the amount of no less than $500,000 per occurrence naming the owner, its employees, representatives, successors and assigns as additional insured. If Liquor is to be part of the event, see the next question/answer.
What are your rules about liquor on the property?
The only alcohol permitted on the premises is beer, wine and champagne, and only of such quantities that no drunkenness occurs. If alcohol is served as a part of your function, then you need to provide proof of Liquor Liability Insurance (see Insurance section of contract). If alcohol is provided by a caterer, then the caterer must provide proof of Liquor Liability Insurance. We reserve the right to remove and/or destroy un-permitted alcohol, and/or remove the guilty parties from the premises.
I understand there is a creek running through the property. Is it accessible
for events?
Yes, the beautiful Gales Creek runs through the property from one end to the other, and we encourage you to enjoy its beauty. However there is no swimming or wading allowed at any time. We are not sure why it is called a “creek”, as it carries a lot of water year round, especially during the winter.
What are your play areas like?
For adults and teenagers, we have 4 horseshoe pits, a sand volleyball court, a ¾ size basketball court and short walking trails. For children we have swings, mechanical horse rides, playhouse, and climbing bars.
Do you allow campfires or overnight camping?
Neither campfires nor overnight camping are allowed at the present time. At some time in the future we hope to be able to allow overnight retreats for small groups, however we do not have a time frame for this change yet. When that is available, we will probably also allow campfires in a specific location.
